An Olympic "Village" For Fans
During the time period covering the Beijing 2008 Olympic games, the Longmai Hotsprings Hotel will become an Olympic Fan Village. In addition to you, the U.S. Gymnastics fan, Longmai will also house sports fans from other countries. Many fun activities, all in the Olympic spirit, are being planned. Contests will be held daily in activities such as bowling, billiards, badminton, tennis, archery, equestrian, and swimming. So, even if you are no longer able to make a kip or tumble, you might still be able to win a medal for your country! Participation will be voluntary of course, and at night awards will be presented in Olympic fashion. Toasts will be drunk to the victors, and I’m sure the
spirit of the Olympics will prevail!
Public rooms along the central rose garden will provide places to purchase additional Olympic tickets, exchange or trade tickets, and to exchange pins and national apparel with other villagers.
A large projection screen will be set up at the end of the garden where TV broadcasts of Olympic events will be shown. There will also be two large indoor screen broadcasts in lecture halls around the garden area. Broadcasts will be in three languages including English. So, you will have ample opportunity to enjoy some of the events that you do not have tickets to attend.
For the Kids or the “Kids at Heart” Housed along with the indoor thermal hot springs baths where mom and dad can relax, take massages, and enjoy the various baths is a wonderful indoor water park. Water slides, a wave machine, and a white water rafting course will surely entertain the kids. Next door is a large recreational sport complex containing a 21-lane bowling alley, tennis courts, badminton courts, pool tables, ping pong tables, an archery range, and a shooting gallery. Outside there is an equestrian area where horseback riding may be enjoyed. All of these activities are available at prices far below what we are accustomed to paying at home in the U.S. Use of the outdoor hot spring baths comes included with your room price.
